FAQ

  1. WHY THE H*** IS IT SO EXPENSIVE TO SHIP OVERSEA?

We don't know? We receive parcels from all aroud the world, and it sometimes cost 1/3 of that price to ship from Europ or Asia to Canada. We do not wish to start debates about politics, but we could hardly deny the fact that canadian regulations are unjustifiable. It is a serious blow to any small business with an international base of customers. In other words: we are well aware that International shipping fees are litterally a theft. Please blame it on Canada Post since we have no control over such matters. Should we ad that we did not vote for this...?

  1. IS THAT TRUE THAT YOU GIVE FREEBIES TO INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS?

Affirmative... but that was meant to be a "secret". The fact is: we hate losing a sale because of some tyranesque governement imposed fees, and we hate to see honest people losing money and being penalized for living outside North America (and our "leaders" will pretend they support global world economy, yeah, right...).

So, no offense to our Canadian or American customers, we are usually including a shirt, a tie, a hat or some insignia(s) - at our discretion -  free of charge, so people from Europe, Australia, Asia or South America don't get robbed.

Of course we lose some profit but we gain customers, and in the end, the equation is good for Der Stahladler. DON'T ask for a reduction on your basic purchase though (especially packages!): prices are made so we get  a "reasonable profit". We will contact you and offer some stuff you might choose from.

North American customers? Come on guys, you already get your stuff for less than 25$!

  1. WHAT ABOUT "SURFACE SHIPPING" SOLUTION FOR INTERNATIONAL PARCELS?

We offer it but do not encourage it: it ends up being way too expensive for the sevice you get. Let's see how it works:

Surface service to international destinations is "cheaper" but can take up to 10 weeks to be finally delivered!  Why? Because parcels and boxes are packed up in large containers as they arrive: if your parcel is at the top of an almost full container, that's good news because it means that it is most likely about to be scealed and loaded on a ship.

However, if your parcel is placed at the bottom of an empty container, canadian postal officers will slowly pile up stuff in it until it is filled... which could take up to six weeks! THEN they'll load it on a ship and the slow trip will begin.

If you want to save a few dollars and  are willing to wait nearly 5 months (in all) before you finally get your parcel,  then that is an option.

  1. WHAT DOES "EXPRESS" MEAN?

The word "EXPRESS" means that a product shipped using such a service takes:

  • 1 to 2 days in Canada

  • 3 to 4 days North America

  • 10 days  for Europe and  Australia

That delay must however be ADDED to the 6-10 weeks it takes to actually produce/get the products you are ordering.

All EXPRESS packages can be tracked down uning a code provided by Canada Post.

  1. HOW MANY ITEMS CAN BE COMBINED IN A SINGLE SHIPMENT?

The prices listed here are for parcels with a weight inferior to 15 lbs (6Kg). As an example, a set consisting of a gabardine  tunic, a pair of matching breeches, a tie and a shirt, weighs about  5 lbs. One could add an overcoat, a belt, a visor hat and a complete set of insignias and the shipping price for that order would still remain the same. Obviously you can expect wool items to be heavier.

NOTE: Insignias do not have to be counted as separate items when ordered with any piece of uniform (shirt, tunic, trousers etc.)
